With a flag adorned with wheat and drops of milk, the importance of agriculture to Loudoun county has always been clear.  By means of comparison, Loudoun is home to more horses than any other county in the Commonwealth.  Over 15,000 beef cattle call Loudoun home, and Loudoun’s sheep flock rank in the top ten for Virginia counties as well.

When it comes to crops, over 28,000 acres are planted in hay, and over 14,000 acres are devoted to row crops like corn, wheat, and soybeans.  Although much smaller in acreage, Loudoun’s wine and beer industries mean that the county boasts over 700 acres in grapes (#1 in the Commonwealth), and a total of around 20 acres of hops.
